And sell my VAIO Duo. The VAIO Pro 11.

I never really like macbooks, to be honest, because I think that mac already gone too mainstream. And a Laptop made out from a carbon fiber is always a good thing, eh?

So all in all, I love VAIO because they're batshit light. Even my first laptop, VAIO X, is only weigh 600 grams!

Yes there's a lot of issue in ultralight laptops, like battery, keyboard, and many others. And i don't care, me likey.

Anyway, what's your laptop, opponauts?

Asus Bamboo from about 3 years ago. It works. But I'd rather have a Mac, or at least a stable Hackintosh running OSX.

Windows 7 does what I need it to, but I really just don't care at all about it.

Mine is some overpowered HP G Series I think.

I only look at the specs of the computers not the brands and models.

I know this has a quad core AMD processor at 1.5 ghz and 4 gigs of ram.

I nearly bought that bamboo. Really.

OSX for me is a very nice OS, to be honest. I always loves how the way it looks. I even got a hackintosh running on my VAIO P.

Too bad the hackintosh thing never works well on my VAIO.

Beats Audio was not an option I went for.

I just needed a laptop for school and occasional gaming, and this does a good job at that, its large but light I think. Not sure on weight but I have no issue carrying it with me when I need to.

I see.

But I think maybe the battery is kinda awful, right?
There's some kind of stereotypes in my mind that AMD is a battery eater.

Asus N53SV-EH72. Got it fall of '11 and it was by far the best sub-$1000 laptop on the market ($900). 6 (up to 16) GB of RAM, 500 GB 7200RPM HD, dedicated graphics, i7 3.1 ghz, and a 1080x1920 screen. For the time, that was pretty good value. It is pretty heavy an thick, though, as they used the N series cases from something like 2008 to 2012, but it lets me do everything I need to do (including gaming every once in a while).

I had a bunch of older laptops that I sold in December... a couple of old ThinkPads and a 2006 MacBook, a 2009 MacBook Pro that I somehow sold for $1300 USD...

I got a new Thinkpad W530 in January. 15" 1920x1080, 128GB Crucial M4 mSATA SSD, 500GB 7200RPM HD, DVD burner, 2GB NVIDIA K1000M gfx, i7-3720QM 3.6GHz quad core, 32GB RAM, and weighs about 6 pounds, just shy under 3kg. Battery lasts anywhere between 4-9 hours depending on how I use it. Windows 7 Pro 64, Very happy with it and I still had money left over from selling the older laptops!

Three years ago I bought a 8GB Ram, 4-core i5 (the same architecture of the higher-end i7) AMD Radeon graphics, touchscreen, HP Touchsmart laptop for about $700 .

It's a 1,500$ when it came out, but HP was having a fire sale in the wake of the Slate debacle. I kid you know, they were offering 50% off of their top-of-the line laptops. 3 years later, it's still cutting edge and not outdated.

Ya, the N Series is looks awesome!

Especially the current version, feels like a well-made laptops.

But they are heavy..
If there's a smaller one maybe that would be awesome!

So..
Somebody paying 1300 bucks for a 4 years old laptop?
That's weird for me. Really..

And that's one hell of a laptop you got there.

It was a 2009 17" MacBook Pro and I threw in a $70 drawing tablet, but still...

Thanks. I hope you enjoy your new VAIO!

17 inch?
It's huge. Really.

Sure I will. Especially it's only weigh 900 grams but powered with i7. It's like a go-kart with V8!

Yeah 17" was too big for my likes. I could carry it around but it was a burden.

That go-kart V8 analogy is great.

AMD makes a great processor. The battery life isn't the best, mostly cause I have my performance all the way up, its plugged in mostly, rarely not. So I don't care about battery life

Ya.
I remember using my brother's asus G series. It's huge. I prefer having a pc instead of a massive laptop.

Thank you!

Mac Book Air 2013 (the latest one). It has a Haswell i5, 1.3ghz with an Intel HD 5000. Bought it on sale (my best buy was selling it for 949.99, and I had a 100 dollar student discount along with a 50 dollar gift card (total was 799.99). Totally worth it. Even with only 4gb of ram, it's fast, and can play Battlefield 3 on high settings. The form factor is extremely thin and light, and the battery life is good. Apple says that the MBA can get up to 12 hours, but if you turn down the brightness to 75% (which is still very bright), and turn the backlit keyboard off, along with the bluetooth, I have gotten up to 16 hours of battery.

And believe me. I'm a giant PC guy (PC gamer), but the Mac, while it is mainstream, has sold me. Function (or in this case, form factor and battery life), over form. Always.

I see.
Then the VAIO should be faster, thanks to the i7 Haswell and 8GBs of RAM plus 256GB of SSD, and lighter at 900 ish grams. And oh, the Carbon Fiber porn.

*Altough the price is kinda steep at 1.5k in here after discount. And it's only has 11.1" Full HD screen..

Ya, AMD's are thirsty in general. But it's quite fast for mobile gaming. Too bad there's no VAIO Pro AMD. That would be awesome!

And cheaper!

My cousin has an Asus G series and it is a giant flimsy brick. It's sad to see a 9+ pound laptop with such shitty build quality.

Ya.
They put too much attention on hardware.

I don't mind paying an extra cash for a well-built laptop made fom metals or carbons. Really.
